Robert Scherffius and Victor Alferi

Robert and Victor met in Manhattan’s West Village in 1952. They say it was love at first sight. They tied the knot on the beach shortly before sunset on September 17, 2011, as hundreds of onlookers watched, cried and enthusiastically applauded the Grove couple on their nuptials.

Resource for LGBT folks and others

Penpalmentors.com, lgbtmeets.com’s sister website, is a good resource for anyone struggling with bullying, depression, LGBT issues, loneliness, etc.  It is also for people who just want a snail mail pal. Check it out! The following is their statement:

"A penpal mentor’s purpose is to cheer you up through snail mail (or email, if you prefer). You can post or submit to the site if you want a mentor. A mentor will send you a letter (including things like pictures, CDs, small dollar store items, etc.) once a week. If you write back to your mentor, he/she will respond as many times as you would like. You can post to our discussion forum at the bottom of this site to connect with other people who are struggling with similar issues. Submit your name, email address, or home address (whichever you prefer) by clicking the mail icon below or by clicking the "Ask" tab above. Your information will not be shared or made public."

skylark11:

anna and i at newport folk festival in july. :]here’s a cool story, short version:anna has been my best friend in college for two years, and just this summer we fell in love..it’s been one of the best summers of my life, almost entirely because of her, and i feel like the luckiest kid in the universe.but today, she headed off for an eight month abroad trip to turkey, tanzania, india, new zealand, and mexico to learn about grass roots environmental organizing and rethinking globalization. which is pretty badass. and is going to be incredible.(side note: she’ll be coming back an hour before our technical one year anniversary type dealio which is just absolutely fantastic hehe).
and while i’ve never been good at letting go, or trusting in general, we decided we’re braving the snail mail distance and uncertainty, having our own adventures apart this year, but staying together as a duo.i honestly don’t think i’ve ever been so in love.. and while it is going to be hard, i don’t think i’ve ever felt more complete and happy in my life. :]

Scott and Tom Moore

Born as Jessica and Laura, Scott and Tom each came from traditional families. Now gay men, they met at their local Lesbian, Gay Bi Transgender group and fell in love.

Result: They have been married for three years. Together, the Moores were blissfully happy as a family of four, but like most married couples, Scott and Tom still wanted to try for a baby. Unlike most male gay couples, they had the means to do so, as Scott still has working female reproductive organs. According to Scott in the documentary Dad’s Having a Baby, “The biggest difficulty faced by a pregnant man is other people’s judgement.”
